Assignment:
There are many factors which determine news value and specify its importance. Like
“Quantity” is one such ingredient. Sometime a news story gets important because a great
quantity of people is being affected by it. For example the “error in the results of Pre- medical
entry tests results” This news story has effects on the future of hundreds of students and thus
this news story becomes eligible for getting space in newspaper.
Similarly given below are few factors that make news. Your task is to select news story against
each factor from any national newspaper (English or Urdu) and also justify that how the news
story is selected or considered important on the basis of that particular factor.

Do mention the newspaper name from where the story is picked up
Do mention its date of publication
Justifications given for each news story must be supported with logical arguments

Cut down the unnecessary information and re-arrange the below given information
in the form of a news. Also give an appropriate headline to it.
Suicide bomb blasts have become very common in our country. Mostly they target
crowded places like markets and bazaars. Moon market is a very famous and busy market
of Lahore. Today one suicide bomb blaster exploded himself in the middle of the market.
It was evening time and rush was on its peak. Mostly females visit this market for the
sake of buying cloths and shoes. This market is also visited by food lovers as there are
many stalls of barbeque food here in moon market. A number of shops in the market
were destroyed and windowpanes of nearby buildings and houses shattered. Dozens of
cars and motorcycles were damaged. The blasts, which took place within a radius of 30
meter, also caused a massive fire in a crowded shopping mall. The blasts knocked out
electricity supply. This suicide blast took the lives of nine people and five are injured.
The police had recovered some body parts; including the head and legs of the suspected
bomber. It has been noticed that suicide attackers mostly blow them up in busy places
where there are lot of people around so that they can create terror.

US drone strike kills 10 in South Waziristan
WANA: The second US drone attack in as many days killed 10 people in South Waziristan
on Sunday, intelligence officials said, an incident likely to raise tensions in the standoff between
US and Pakistan over NATO supply routes to Afghanistan.
The remotely-piloted aircraft fired four missiles at a suspected terrorist hideout in the Birmal area
of South Waziristan, officials said. A drone strike in the same area killed two suspected terrorists
on Saturday. The dead included militant commander Malang Jan, an associate of
warlord Maulvi Nazir who sends fighters to Afghanistan to support the Taliban, a security official told AFP.

Lahoris brave hot weather as temperature rises to 45C
LAHORE: The Lahoris on Sunday braved an extremely hot and dry day, with the mercury level hovering
around 45 degrees Celsius. The weather became all the more difficult to endure because of the long
load shedding hours.
A majority of the citizens remained indoors, while a large number of youngsters rushed to the canal to
beat the heat. There was a lot of rush at the canal near Jallo Morr. Families were also seen sitting
alongside the canal and enjoying watermelon and other fruits after cooling them in the canal water.
Meanwhile, a large number of citizens and families were also seen at different swimming pools
across the city, including Iqbal Park swimming pool, PU swimming pool, and FCC swimming pool.
