Question/Description

 

The Case:

National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) is one of the largest banks of Pakistan; it is providing banking services in public as well as commercial sector of the country. At the start of last decade, when banking sector was flourishing; different private banks were introduced in the market. To compete with different new private banks, NBP launched a skill development program to train its employees in several departments. When the training program was over; some of the trained employees of NBP were approached by the Human Resource Department of several newly launched banks. As a result, some of them left NBP and joined other banks.

 

Requirements:

Think as an economist and comment that what will be the impact of this situation on NBP in particular and on society in general?

Effect on Organisation (NBP):
When an employee leaves the organization, the social linkages, especially the team-like aspects of the work group are broken, and will have to be rebuilt. This takes time and the contribution of the organization's resources to get the organization "back to where it was" before. The social fabric of the organization is broken when an employee leaves the team; the social relationships are unique and the readjustments can be difficult and can take a long period of time for the supervisor to accomplish.

Replacement costs:

Finally, it is costly to recruit, train and orient a new employee.1 Therefore, management personnel need assistance in identifying early signs that indicate employees are looking for new jobs. If the possibility that a particular employee might leave the organization is disturbing, it would be advisable to prepare a retention strategy for the office. Once an employee decides to look for a new job, the office can suffer from reduced productivity from the "short-timer."

Effect on Society:

1: Employment:
By introducing more private banks many unemployed people will get employment.

2: Security Benefits:
Society can get more better security benefits like Gadget Cover, payment card protection, Extended waranty,Identity theft protection, HOme emergency services, Accidental Death Insurrance etc.

3: Travel & Liesure Benefits:
As well better travel services like Personal travel advisor, Hotel booking services, worldwise airport lounges, Car hire upgrade, Travel money, Ticket booking services and conclerge services.These services can be provided in some discount because of competition also.
